No Substitutes
There are some things in our lives where substitutes are
TOTALLY Unacceptable!
So why are some people okay with trading our True God; Who is
beyond description for a poor substitute like
God has been very clear on the subject …
Then God instructed the people as follows:
"I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from slavery in
Egypt. "Do not worship any other gods besides me. "Do not make
idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or
fish. You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the
LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not share your
affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the
sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the
sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. But
I lavish my love on those who love me and obey my commands,
even for a thousand generations.
Exodus 20:1-6
An Idol is anything that takes the
focus
off of God and puts it on something
else.
Paul's quick review of primary idols of
biblical times:
The primary idols of today:
For your own good, then, make certain
that you do not sin by making for
yourselves an idol in any form at all.
Deuteronomy 4:15-16
Idols will Disappoint you.
They make idols, but the idols will
disgrace their makers, for they are
frauds. They have no life or power in
them.
Jeremiah 10:14
Since He Himself has gone through
suffering and temptation, He is able to
help us when we are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:18
Idols will Dominate you.
You know that when you were still pagans
you were led astray and swept along in
worshiping speechless idols.
1 Corinthians 12:2
Idols will Deform you.
Those who make idols become like them.
So will those who trust in them.

Worship is Giving my highest love and
devotion.
Worship only God!
Instead of believing what they knew was
the truth about God, they deliberately
chose to believe lies. So they worshiped
the things God made but not the Creator
himself, who is to be praised forever.
Romans 1:25
3 Benefits of Worshiping Only God:
1. It will DELIGHT me. (Fulfillment)
Take delight in the LORD, and He will
give you your heart's desires.
Psalms 37:4
2. It will DELIEVER me. (Freedom)
3. It will DEVELOP me.
Know Jesus; Know Change!
No Jesus; No Change.
