Dead People Walk Funny

Friend Day 2009

Galatians 5:16- 25

The Sinful nature will produce these evil results:

Sexual Immorality
Impure Thoughts
Eagerness for Lustful Pleasure
Idolatry
Participation in Demonic activities
Hostility
Quarreling
Jealousy
Outbursts of Anger
Selfish Ambition
Divisions the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group
Envy
Drunkenness
Wild Parties
and other kinds of sin

The Holy Spirit will produce in us:

Love
Joy
Peace
Patience
Kindness
Goodness
Faithfulness
Gentleness
and Self-control.

If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

“the quick and the dead”

You were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins.
Ephesians 2:1
You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away.
Colossians 2:13

Dead men walk funny but they are going no where.

Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:21

You are either a CHRISTIAN or you are NOT

If your life is a struggle between your Old Nature and

The Holy Spirit … THANK GOD!

Take comfort in the fact that the Holy Spirit is at work in your life.

I. We are spiritually alive by the Spirit.

When the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent Him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as His very own children. And because you have become His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, and now you can call God your "Abba, Father." Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are His child, everything He has belongs to you.
Galatians 4:4-7

“Abba, Father” = DADDY

Internal Change verse Outward Conformity

II. The Old Nature has been nailed to the Cross.

I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

Sin Perverted (bented) our legitimate passions and desires.

You have top deal with your Generational baggage.

God chose you and you made a choose too. “my old life is over”

1. The struggle can not be won by keeping the law

“The law tells us all the do’s and don’ts”

2. We need to walk in the Spirit

Keep in step with the Spirit

The “Mind” field

You need:

1. PATH (PATTERN) to follow

2. POWER

To give you the Pattern to follow without the Power is helpless.

3. A PERSON

A relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit.

Walking in the Spirit is a life long struggle. If you will follow the pattern in the power of the Holy Spirit, relying on the person of the Holy Spirit, God will give you victory.
